Coaching & Editing Services for Fiction Writers

Writing can be lonely, but it doesn’t have to be. Whether you need a writing coach to talk through your ideas, a developmental editor to refine your story, or a manuscript review for an outside perspective on your progress, I’m here to help.

I work with fiction writers of most genres including thriller, fantasy, romance, literary fiction, and more. At this time, I do not work on science fiction, epic fantasy, or horror manuscripts. No matter what genre you are writing, I offer personalized coaching and editing services that are tailored to your goals and needs.

Manuscript Review

Books with open pages and "Manuscript Review" text overlay.

You’ve written, edited, and edited some more and now you are wondering if your manuscript needs developmental editing, line editing, or copyediting. Or maybe you are wondering if the story works at all. I will give your manuscript a thorough read and provide my feedback on what is working well, what needs revision, and what level of editing I would recommend proceeding forward with.

What You’ll Get:

  • A comprehensive editorial letter (5-10 pages) detailing my feedback and recommended next steps.

  • A 30-minute Zoom call to discuss my feedback and answer any questions you may have.

  • A recording of our call for your reference.

Timeline: 3-5 weeks depending on length of manuscript

Investment: $500

If your book needs developmental editing and you would like me to hire me, the cost of the manuscript review will be credited toward your developmental editing fee.

Developmental Edit

Person writing in a notebook with the text 'Developmental Edit' overlayed.

Developmental editing is a comprehensive process that focuses on making sure your story works. This service goes beyond surface-level corrections and examines the core elements of your story. Here are the kinds of things I am looking for during a developmental edit:

  • Story themes and genre conventions

  • Plot structure and pacing

  • Inciting incidents, crises, climax, and resolution

  • Character development and arcs

  • Narrative voice, consistency, and distance

  • Point of view, dialogue, show vs tell, and more

What You Get:

  • Comprehensive feedback including:

    • Comments made throughout the manuscript

    • A detailed editorial letter (typically 10-15 pages - shorter if I did a manuscript review beforehand) with actionable feedback and recommended next steps

    • A follow up 60 minute Zoom call to discuss my feedback and to answer your questions.

  • Four weeks of unlimited email support to ask questions as you begin to revise.

Line Editing

Elevate your writing while keeping your voice.

Line editing enhances your prose by improving sentence flow, clarity, and style without altering your unique voice. This service focuses on word choice and refines your manuscript at the sentence level.

What is the difference between line editing and copy editing?

Unlike copy editing, which focuses on grammar and punctuation, line editing is about phrasing, rhythm, word choice, and tone to deepen reader understanding and story meaning.
